Before she became a household name with 'Euphoria' and the 'Spider-Man' films, Zendaya starred in the Disney Channel sitcom 'K.C. Undercover', which has now been added to ITVX. The first season, comprising 29 episodes, is available to stream at no extra cost.
The series originally aired from 2015 to 2018, with Zendaya playing K.C. Cooper, a high school student and math whiz with a black belt in karate. Her parents recruit her to work as a spy for a secret government agency called The Organization, and she must balance her civilian life with undercover missions, keeping her double life a secret from her best friend Marisa.
Zendaya was just 16 when she signed on and also served as co-producer. She requested a name change from the original title 'Super Awesome Katy' and insisted that the actors playing her on-screen family be black. At the time, she said: 'Young women are able to look at the screen and see that they can be anything... A little boy can look up to a girl and say, "I want to be like this girl," and that’s awesome.'
Critics have described the show as 'ground breaking in its own right', and fans continue to praise it. One viewer said: 'I absolutely love watching K.C. Undercover! It's fantastic! It's a kids show but I think older teens might find it enjoyable too as well as some adults.' Another added: 'This is the best Disney show ever.'
All 29 episodes of season one are now streaming on ITVX, while the full series is available on Disney+.
