Stranger Things has lost its position as the most-watched show on Netflix UK just two days after its highly anticipated finale was released on New Year's Day. The epic conclusion to the decade-long saga, which saw Eleven and Mike Wheeler face off against Vecna to save Hawkins, has been overtaken by the new Harlan Coben adaptation, Run Away.
Run Away, starring James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver, and Ruth Jones, is based on Coben's 2019 novel. The eight-episode series follows Simon, a grieving father whose daughter disappears and later resurfaces, brainwashed by a new boyfriend. Simon becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation after the boyfriend is found dead.
UK viewers have quickly embraced the thriller, with one Rotten Tomatoes reviewer calling it 'the first Harlan Coben adaptation that I actually liked watching.' Another viewer on X praised it as 'so good! I binged it in less than 24 hours!' However, not all reactions were positive; one critic described it as 'absolute nonsense from start to finish.'
Despite losing the top spot in the UK, Stranger Things continues to dominate Netflix's television rankings in the United States. Both series are available to stream on Netflix.
