The eagerly awaited finale of Stranger Things has been knocked off the top of Netflix's UK chart by new thriller Run Away, just two days after its release on New Year's Day.
The two-hour episode, which bid farewell to characters like Eleven and Mike Wheeler, quickly climbed to number one as millions tuned in. However, it has now been replaced by the Harlan Coben adaptation starring James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver and Ruth Jones.
Run Away follows Simon, a grieving father whose daughter disappears and later resurfaces brainwashed by a new boyfriend. He hires a private investigator, but becomes a murder suspect when the boyfriend is found dead.
Viewers have praised the eight-episode series for its twists and violence, with one calling it 'entertaining from start to close'. However, a dissenting voice described it as 'absolute nonsense from start to finish'.
In the US, Stranger Things still holds the top spot, but faces new challengers. Both shows are available to stream on Netflix.
