Pantheon's second season has quietly landed on Netflix, giving global audiences the first opportunity to binge-watch the critically acclaimed animated series. Despite its initial release on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand in 2022, the show has only recently gained attention on the streaming platform, with viewers hailing it as a hidden gem.
The series, created by Craig Silverstein and inspired by Ken Liu's short stories, follows teenager Maddie Kim (voiced by Katie Chang) as she begins an online correspondence with someone she believes to be her deceased father, David. It soon emerges that David's consciousness has been uploaded to the cloud, leading Maddie to confront the implications of Uploaded Intelligence technology.
Pantheon boasts an impressive voice cast including Paul Dano, Aaron Eckhart, and Daniel Dae Kim. The show has received a stellar response, holding a perfect 100 percent critic rating and a 95 percent audience approval on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have praised its blend of fast-paced action and cerebral sci-fi drama, as well as its voice acting, animation, and writing.
However, not all viewers have been captivated, with one critic describing it as "generic and boring." Despite this, the series has garnered a dedicated following, with many calling it a "criminally underrated masterpiece." Both seasons of Pantheon are now available to stream on Netflix.
