Prime Video's latest thriller '56 Days', based on Catherine Ryan Howard's best-selling novel, premieres on February 18. The eight-episode series, adapted by Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher, follows a mysterious death in a Boston luxury apartment and the secrets of a passionate couple.
The show opens with a masked figure discovering a decaying corpse in a bathtub, then rewinds to Day 1. Viewers meet Ciara Wyse (Dove Cameron), a young woman new to the city, who meets Oliver Kennedy (Avan Jogia), a wealthy architect, in a grocery store. Their intense romance quickly develops, but both harbour hidden agendas.
Detectives Lee Reardon (Karla Souza) and Karl Connolly (Dorian Missick) investigate the crime scene, but the body is unidentifiable and the apartment is registered to a company. As the narrative shifts between past and present, more about Ciara and Oliver's hedonistic relationship and their troubled pasts emerges.
'56 Days' explores themes of obsession, privilege, and childhood trauma, capturing the frenzy of all-consuming lust. While some twists are predictable, the series keeps viewers engaged with its eerie mystery and nonlinear timeline. The final reveal, though not as shocking as some similar thrillers, remains unpredictable.
