Fans of the iconic animated series Futurama can now stream Season 12 on ITVX at no extra cost. The season, part of the show's Hulu revival, was added to the streaming platform recently, delighting devotees who have followed the series since its 1999 debut.
The show, co-created by Matt Groening of The Simpsons fame, follows pizza-delivery boy Fry who accidentally freezes himself on New Year's Eve 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years in the future. He joins a crew including Captain Leela, robot Bender, and others at a small delivery service run by his descendant.
Futurama has been cancelled twice but made triumphant returns, first with straight-to-DVD films in 2008-2009, then with new seasons on Hulu (now part of Disney+) starting in 2010. Season 12 features episodes such as Bender visiting his ancestral village in Mexico and Leela befriending a possessive chatbot.
While not the highest-rated season on Rotten Tomatoes, critics and fans praise it for memorable moments. One critic called an episode "one of the most unsettling Futurama episodes ever," while a fan said, "This is an iconic show. So smart and funny and genius."
