Virgin River enthusiasts have been searching for a suitable alternative during the show's hiatus, and many have found it in the CW series Hart of Dixie. The romantic drama, which aired from 2011 to 2015, follows Dr Zoe Hart as she moves to the small town of Bluebell, Alabama, after her dreams of becoming a heart surgeon fall through.
Fans on Reddit have praised the show for its similar small-town atmosphere and romantic entanglements. One user declared: "Hart of Dixie!!!" while another added: "Hart of Dixie!! Best show ever. Dare I say better than VR?" The series also features Tim Matheson, who plays Doc Mullins in Virgin River, this time as Dr Brick Breeland.
