Michael Imperioli, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his roles in The Sopranos and The White Lotus, has been cast opposite Patrick Dempsey in the new Fox thriller series Memory of a Killer. The straight-to-series drama is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment.
The series, written by Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone, is inspired by the award-winning 2003 Belgian thriller De Zaak Alzheimer (also known as La Memoire Du Tueur). It follows Angelo Ledda (Dempsey), a hitman leading a double life while hiding a secret: he has developed early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Imperioli will play Dutch, an accomplished Italian chef who owns a restaurant in the Bronx that serves as a front for his criminal enterprise. Dutch is described as ruthless and mercurial yet affable. He is Angelo’s oldest friend and employer, giving him targets for hits. Trust is essential in their dangerous business, but Dutch is not always dependable.
This marks Imperioli’s first series-regular role since the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus, where he played Dominic Di Grasso and earned a Supporting Actor Emmy nomination. He previously won an Emmy for his portrayal of Christopher Moltisanti on The Sopranos.
Memory of a Killer is eyed for a midseason launch on Fox. Executive producers include Whitmore, Malone, Cathy Schulman, Arthur Sarkissian, Martin Campbell, and Peter Bouckaert. Imperioli is repped by Gersh and Anonymous Content.
