The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a black-and-white portrait ahead of a State Banquet for the Sultan of Oman on Tuesday, October 20. The image shows the couple in formal attire, with Kate wearing a tiara and William displaying his medals.
Photo taken at Frogmore House
Royal experts noted the photograph was taken at Frogmore House, a Royal residence near Windsor Castle where the banquet was held. William and Kate live on the same estate, so they appear to have made a detour from home to pose for the picture.
This was done to protect the privacy of their family home, Forest Lodge, according to Woman&Home. The couple have never shared the inner workings of their home, preferring to keep it as a sanctuary from the public eye.
Harry and Meghan's approach
This approach differs from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's. A few weeks after the Sussexes returned to the UK from a six-year stint in Montecito, California, Meghan shared a video of the family settling into life at home.
The montage, posted to Instagram on September 13, showed the family in the countryside with their dog, and Harry on a boat in a pond fishing with the kids. It opens with Meghan and Harry hand in hand, with the Duchess turning towards the camera and playfully shouting "come on, you".
One clip appears to show Lilibet cycling with a doll in a baby bike seat as Archie runs past her, and another shows one of the youngsters warming their feet by the fireplace. A Union Flag emoji and a heart emoji are overlaid over the clips.
Different family visibility
Meghan has also shared clips cooking with Lilibet to promote her As Ever brand. While it is not uncommon to see William and Kate's children in photographs and video, George, Charlotte, and Louis are typically pictured at official Royal events, rather than at home.
The stark difference comes as Harry said in an interview he hopes to reconcile with his family but added 'some people don't want it to work out'. It's thought a rift has grown between Harry, Charles, and William, but a spokesperson for the Duke said the remark was general and 'absolutely not intended as a swipe' at his father or brother.
