William and Kate Get £8.7m Boost from US Charity

The Prince and Princess of Wales received a major financial boost after new figures revealed millions of pounds in support from across the Atlantic. Prince William and his wife received £8,694,668 in income from their American Friends organisation during 2025, according to the charity’s latest financial statements.

The figure represents a dramatic increase on the £4,885,719 recorded in 2024 - a jump of almost £4million in just 12 months. The American Friends of The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales is registered in Delaware and described in the accounts as a separately controlled entity with aligned interests.

Purpose of the American Friends

Its purpose is to support William and Catherine’s, 44, charitable work, particularly initiatives with the potential to make an impact beyond Britain. The financial statement explains: “The American Friends support The Royal Foundation’s programmes and initiatives, primarily focusing on projects that deliver impact on an international scale.”

The substantial rise means American support is now providing millions more towards the couple’s growing portfolio of charitable projects. Overall, the Royal Foundation recorded income of more than £19million during 2025, while expenditure stood at approximately £16million.

Key Charitable Initiatives

The organisation acts as the main vehicle for William and Catherine’s charitable work, supporting the long-term causes both have placed at the centre of their public roles. For Catherine, much of that focus remains on the importance of early childhood development. Her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood launched its Shaping Us Framework in 2025, building on years of work by the Princess to raise awareness of how experiences during the earliest years of life can shape individuals and wider society.

William, meanwhile, continued his ambitious Homewards programme tackling homelessness. The five-year initiative, launched in 2023, works across six locations around the UK with the long-term aim of demonstrating that homelessness can be made rare, brief and unrepeated. The year also concluded with Catherine’s fifth annual Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey.

Leadership and Comparison

Royal Foundation chief executive Amanda Berry said: “In 2025, that belief was matched by a bold and deliberate focus on the power of collaboration, which meant our work reached further and connected more deeply. We have an unparalleled ability to unite people, ideas and resources. Together, we can shift systems, innovate solutions and inspire others to act. This year, each of our programmes turned shared commitment into measurable outcomes – and set the stage for even greater impact in the years ahead.”

The latest figures also highlight the considerable international financial reach of William and Catherine’s charitable operation. By comparison, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Philanthropies reported revenue of around £1.93million in 2024. Its equivalent 2025 figure is not yet known, meaning a direct comparison between the organisations for the same financial year cannot currently be made.

The figures have emerged while William and Catherine are enjoying their traditional summer break away from public engagements. August typically marks one of the quieter periods in the royal calendar, with the couple spending time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis before engagements resume. But while their public appearances may have temporarily slowed, the latest accounts show the considerable operation continuing behind the scenes.
