Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation donated more than half a million dollars to individuals and organisations with ties to the Democratic Party, according to US tax filings. The donations risk provoking Donald Trump, who has repeatedly criticised the couple and recently called Meghan 'terrible'.
The largest single payment, $250,000 (£199,000), went to a charity founded by Ashley Biden, daughter of former US President Joe Biden. The Women's Wellness (Spa)ce in Philadelphia provides trauma therapy, including EMDR and infrared saunas. Archewell is a founding partner of the hub.
Another $146,500 (£116,600) was paid to Jiore Craig, a PR consultant described as the Democrats' 'go-to' expert for countering disinformation. Craig previously worked at Greenberg, Quinlan and Rosner, a firm that advised Bill Clinton's campaigns. She also sits on the board of the Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn, which received $25,000 from Archewell and was visited by Harry and Meghan in 2023.
Markup News Inc., a non-profit linked to George Soros' Open Society Foundation and Craigslist founder Craig Newmark, reportedly received $90,000. Additionally, $155,050 was paid to Herlihy Loughran, a consultancy run by former Buckingham Palace aides.
Trump said this month he would not deport Harry despite visa questions, adding: 'He's got enough problems with his wife. She's terrible.' Harry later appeared to criticise Trump at the Invictus Games, bemoaning 'weak moral character in the world'. The couple had previously called Trump 'misogynistic' and 'divisive'.
