Meghan Markle is celebrating her 45th birthday today. The Duchess of Sussex, who lives in California, will likely spend the day with her husband Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. It is also probable that she will see her mother, Doria, on her special day.
Recent UK visit
Her birthday comes just weeks after the duchess returned to the UK in July with her children. This was her first return to the UK since 2022. Harry, 41, stayed for almost a week, while Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet flew in later and spent less time in Britain.
This is believed to be due to security concerns. The original plan for the family to arrive together changed when they learned they would not receive taxpayer-funded armed police protection. Despite the limited time, the family had a reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Royal rift and birthday wishes
The reunion with the King was the first in four years and took place at Highgrove, but little is known about how it went. The relationship between the royals and the Sussexes has been strained since Harry and Meghan quit royal life in 2020 and publicly criticised the Firm.
If the reunion was successful, the King and Queen might send birthday wishes. However, it is unlikely they will do so publicly, as Meghan is no longer a working royal and this is not a milestone birthday.
