Sebastian Croft: Heartstopper actor's forgotten Game of Thrones role

Sebastian Croft made his Celebrity Traitors debut on Thursday, joining a cast that includes several household names. The 24-year-old actor and singer, who drew attention for his mint green jacket, may be less familiar to some BBC viewers, but many will recognise his work.

His start on the Claudia Winkleman-hosted show has been quiet so far, but he is not one to be underestimated. He is the second youngest contestant at Ardross Castle, after fellow actor Bella Ramsey, 23. As a self-described big fan of the show, he could be a strong player.

Heartstopper and stage roles

Sebastian Croft is a British actor and singer, best known for his role in Netflix's Heartstopper. Born in Oxford in December 2001, he began acting as a child in stage productions before his TV debut in 2016. His credits include BBC drama Dope Girls and the 2019 film Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans, for which he received a Bafta Children's Award nomination.

In Heartstopper, he played Ben Hope, a closeted schoolboy who starts the series in a secret relationship with Charlie Spring (Joe Locke). Ben is emotionally manipulative, rude to Charlie in public and dismissive of his feelings. Charlie eventually ends the relationship, and Ben's later apology comes too late.

Sebastian has also appeared in West End productions, including Sam Mendes' Oliver! and Les Misérables as Gavroche. In 2025, he began releasing music independently, debuting with the single Tokyo, which he said was based on a difficult break-up. His debut EP, The Great Forever, is set for release in October.

Queer advocacy and Game of Thrones cameo

Sebastian identifies as queer and has spoken about the importance of representation for young people. In 2022, he and fellow actor Connor Jessup launched Queer Was Always Here, an initiative celebrating LGBTQ+ lives, art and history.

Long before Heartstopper, Sebastian had a small role in Game of Thrones. He appeared in season six as a young Eddard 'Ned' Stark, the character originally played by Sean Bean. His scenes explored Ned's childhood in two episodes.

He is now in the Traitors castle with Bella Ramsey, who also appeared in season six of Game of Thrones as Lyanna Mormont. The two did not share scenes, but given their similar backgrounds and ages, viewers may wonder if they could team up.

Celebrity Traitors continues on Friday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
