Royals Who Went to Eton: Prince George Joins List

As the Prince and Princess of Wales confirm that Prince George will move to Eton College next term, he is joining countless royal relatives in doing so. By Rebecca Russell, Deputy Royal Editor.

Prince William and Catherine have confirmed that Prince George will go to Eton. Following the confirmation that the Prince and Princess of Wales will be sending their eldest son, Prince George, to study at Eton College in the autumn, he will be gearing up to join the hallowed halls of the school's impressive history.

Prince William and Catherine's spokesman said in a statement: "Kensington Palace can confirm that Prince George will attend Eton College from this September." Prince William is said to be "thrilled" that George will attend his alma mater in the autumn, after enjoying five years there himself from 1995.

While there were other schools originally thought to be in the mix, it is clear that Prince George will be in fine company as the famous school's alumni list boasts countless Kings, Princes, Dukes and other members of the Royal Family. Scroll down for the full list.

Prince Harry joined Eton in 1998. Prince George’s first day at Eton later this year is expected to be documented in the traditional way, with a photograph of the then-13-year-old signing the school’s Entrance Book with his parents by his side.

Fees are currently set at an eye-watering £21,099.60 per term, totalling £63,298.80 for the year.

While King Charles had followed his father and attended Gordonstoun School in Scotland, Prince William's education was more influenced by his mother's family. Diana, Princess of Wales' father, John Spencer, Earl Spencer and her brother, Charles, Earl Spencer, both studied there.

While their periods at the famous school overlapped, Prince Harry has spoken openly about finding his time at Eton a struggle. In his 2023 memoir, Spare, the Duke of Sussex said that he felt like an outsider at the elite school and struggled to fit in socially.
