Royal Ascot has returned for another year, with members of the Royal Family expected to attend each day of the prestigious racing event. The organisers have just released the carriage list for the first day, featuring a surprise couple among the participants.
Carriage Procession Line-Up
The King and Queen will lead the first carriage, accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Wellington. In the second carriage, the Princess Royal will be joined by newlyweds Peter and Harriet Phillips. Anne's son married Harriet earlier this month. They are joined by the former Chairman of the Conservative Party, Sir Ben Elliot.
The next carriage will see the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester ride with Gus Christie and Daneille de Niesse. The final carriage features Matt Ramsden, Luke Irwin and their wives.
Traditional Parade Details
At 2pm, horse-drawn carriages will travel from Windsor Great Park to the Ascot grandstand in a highly choreographed parade. It features four horse-drawn landaus that carry members of the Royal Family and their exclusive guests. The traditional procession signals the start of each race day, with the first race kicking off at 2:30pm.
