South African pastor Joshua Mhlakela, known for his outlandish claims about the end of the world, has once again predicted an imminent apocalypse. He has told his followers that the rapture will occur on 12 or 13 October, which he says will be his final prediction.
New date for the apocalypse
Mhlakela, who previously predicted the rapture would come in September 2025, now says humanity has only days left. He claims God told him the true date, correcting what he describes as a mistake in the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah, or 'The Feast of Trumpets'.
He told his followers: "God told me because there's no other date coming out, 12 to 13 October, which is the true feast of trumpets, which is when I will be meeting my saviour face to face in the rapture", adding that "there's no other rapture date. This is the final date for me".
Complex prediction system
Mhlakela says he uses a complex system involving the position of the sun and the moon, as well as biblical verse, to calculate with precision when God will unleash the rapture. Despite being wrong last year, he says he has realised the mistake was part of the plan, and that God was using him as a warning for Christians to get ready before the real event this year.
He told his followers: "Many are saying Feast of Trumpets is September. When you Google it is September 11. This is not Feast of Trumpets. The true Feast of Trumpets is actually in October".
No evidence for the claim
There does not seem to be any validity to this claim, nor that the world is set to end next Monday, so you're probably safe to not cancel your plans after all.
