Harriet Phillips, who married Peter Phillips last summer, has revealed she looks to the Princess of Wales for advice and guidance as she adjusts to royal life. The 46-year-old former NHS nurse told Hello magazine: "I can look to Catherine for advice and guidance. She's very open-hearted, and I would always feel comfortable asking her if I needed advice about something."
Meeting the Royal Family for the First Time
Harriet, 46, married Princess Anne's eldest son Peter, 48, in a ceremony at the Gatcombe estate in Gloucestershire last summer. The couple met in early 2022 after her daughter Georgina joined the same hockey team as his children, Savannah and Isla.
Recalling her first meeting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, Harriet said: "I've had an incredible experience being welcomed in. We happened to be on holiday at the same place in the Scilly Isles. It was great because the children were all jumping into the water at the same time. It was very casual but there is a clear level of respect there."
A Relaxed Introduction to the King and Queen
Harriet also described meeting the King and Queen at Ascot with her daughter. She said: "It was so lovely and relaxed and there was lots of laughter. You feel as though you're meeting family, but at the same time, it feels otherworldly. Both the King and the Queen have been so welcoming to me and Georgina. I can't thank them both enough."
She described seeing Charles and Camilla at her wedding as a "pinch-me moment," noting that guests were served a giant tiramisu instead of wedding cake.
Charity Patronage
Having spent 24 years as an NHS nurse, Harriet is now patron of Home-Start Cotswolds, a charity that offers support for new parents. She explained: "We often assume that parenting comes naturally, but the reality is that everyone needs support at different points. Home-Start offers vital, practical and non-judgmental support. Just having someone to listen to can make an enormous difference, especially given how closely a parent's wellbeing is connected to a baby's wellbeing."
