Prince William's children are Fawlty Towers fans

The Prince of Wales has revealed a surprising source of family entertainment in the royal household, disclosing that his three children have developed a passion for the classic 1970s sitcom, Fawlty Towers.

A Royal Family Favourite

Prince William shared the amusing revelation with none other than the show's comic star, John Cleese, during the Tusk Conservation Awards in London on Wednesday evening. The 86-year-old Monty Python legend attended the event with his wife, Jennifer Wade.

'My children have just discovered Fawlty Towers, they literally love it,' William told the delighted actor. 'We've been having a lot of family laughs.'

The future King explained that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have been enjoying watching the iconic comedy together, with William 'reminiscing' and 'reliving' the series all over again. He described the experience as 'brilliant'.

Honouring Conservation Champions

The heartwarming family anecdote was shared against the backdrop of the prestigious Tusk Conservation Awards, which honour the exceptional work of individuals safeguarding Africa's habitat and animals.

Prince William, who serves as the royal patron of the Tusk Trust wildlife charity, delivered a speech at the ceremony. He commended the remarkable achievements of those 'working on the frontline of conservation' across Africa.

Before the ceremony, the Prince of Wales was seen chatting with trust ambassadors, including Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, whom he praised as one of the charity's longest-serving supporters. He also warmly welcomed John Cleese's wife to the 'Tusk family'.

A Broader Environmental Message

In his address, Prince William also struck a serious note, reminding the audience of the ongoing environmental threats facing the planet. 'We must continue our efforts to protect nature and highlight the critical role that biodiversity plays in supporting all life on earth,' he stated.

He referenced his recent visit to Brazil for The Earthshot Prize and COP30, which reinforced his sense of urgency. He highlighted the increasing threats to the world's second-largest rainforest, the Congo Basin, and praised the practical solutions offered by indigenous communities and local conservation leaders.

The glamorous event also saw attendance from other notable figures, including Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall, Lady Amelia and Eliza Spencer, and Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden.

In a separate charitable engagement on the same evening, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, volunteered with their children Archie and Lilibet at Our Big Kitchen Los Angeles, baking cookies for the needy on the eve of Thanksgiving.
