Prince William will 'unlikely' meet with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their reported return to the UK next month, as he is said to feel 'deeply betrayed' by them, a royal commentator has claimed.
Sussexes' Return to Britain
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly expected to come back to Britain together for the first time in four years, bringing their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who have not been to the UK since the summer of 2022. Although the joint trip has not been officially confirmed by their spokesperson, reports suggest the King has assisted with the family's security arrangements. It is not yet known whether the King will meet his youngest grandchildren during their stay.
Royal Expert's Analysis
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the heir to the throne will 'unlikely' meet with the Sussexes. Harry, who claimed in his memoir that William physically attacked him and pushed him into a dog bowl, remains estranged from his brother.
Mr Fitzwilliams told GB News: 'Since their only claim to fame is their links with the monarchy, it would be of enormous benefit to them to have cordial relations after they brutally savaged the royals on Oprah, the Netflix series and his memoir Spare.'
He added: 'William reportedly feels deeply betrayed. The King is rumoured to be more emollient. Much of this will be played out in public, the issue is one of trust and the Sussexes simply cannot appreciate the need for privacy in what appears to be their desire to have closer relations with the family they so publicly betrayed.'
Invictus Games Visit
Harry and Meghan are expected to attend a One Year to Go event for the Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027. Mr Fitzwilliams described the visit as 'a trap of sorts, but of course it's a legitimate one. It is, in reality, a gigantic publicity stunt.'
The Invictus Games, a sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans, will be staged in Birmingham next year from July 10 to 17.
