Prince Harry was photographed leaving Althorp House in Northamptonshire on Saturday morning, just hours after a significant family reunion with King Charles III at Highgrove House. The Duke of Sussex is continuing his UK tour, which included an appearance at Scotty’s Summer Festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire, where he serves as global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity supporting bereaved military children.
King Hosts Sussex Family at Highgrove
On Friday afternoon, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, at Highgrove House. This marks the first time the young royals have seen their grandfather in person since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. The meeting is widely seen as a sign of a thawing relationship between the monarch and his son, Prince Harry.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the private gathering but released no further details or photographs. The reunion came after a challenging week for Harry, who lost a £50 million privacy case against the publishers of the Daily Mail.
Security Concerns Resolved
Earlier in the week, Harry had expressed frustration over the lack of armed police protection during his visit, which had forced him to cancel plans for Meghan and the children to join him. However, by Thursday night, enhanced security measures were reportedly put in place, addressing concerns for the duchess and her children’s safety. As a result, Meghan and the children traveled to Britain on Friday morning, having been on holiday in Europe.
Despite the family reunion, it was made clear that Meghan would not attend any public engagements with Harry. She had been expected to join him at the Invictus Games one-year-to-go event at the National Exhibition Centre on Friday, but that plan was ruled out.
Harry Continues UK Tour
Harry’s appearance at Althorp House, the home of his uncle Earl Spencer, comes as he carries out engagements in his role as a charity ambassador. The duke’s visit to the UK has been marked by both personal and legal challenges, but the Highgrove reunion offers a glimmer of hope for family reconciliation.
