The awards are traditionally held each year, usually in September or October. The aim of the event is to celebrate the courage of seriously ill children and the professionals who care for them.
Over the last few years, Harry has always attended the ceremony in person in his role as patron of the national charity for seriously ill children. He has held this role for 18 years and seems to be very passionate about the work that Wellchild does.

It is therefore likely that the duke will attend the ceremony this September, with a date yet to be confirmed. His wife, Meghan Markle, has not joined him at a Wellchild Award ceremony for a few years, with this believed to be because of Harry’s concerns for her safety in the UK. However, as Meghan visited the UK briefly earlier this month, it could be possible that she may also make an appearance with her husband.
