Prince Harry Attended Royal Engagements on No Sleep, Says Former Friend
Prince Harry Attended Royal Engagements on No Sleep

Prince Harry, who has not been a working royal since 2020, sometimes attended official engagements on very little sleep, according to a former friend and journalist. Charlotte Griffiths, writing for the Daily Mail, disclosed that the Duke of Sussex would party through the night and then carry out formal duties with minimal rest.

Former Friend Reveals Party Habits

Griffiths, who was once friends with Harry, shared details of their past friendship in a recent article. The pair reportedly met at a shooting weekend in 2011 and stayed in touch via Facebook Messenger. On June 9, 2012, Griffiths attended a party at a friend's Chelsea home, where Harry was also present. Around 20 people were at the gathering, dancing, laughing, and drinking until dawn.

Griffiths left in the early hours and messaged Harry just after 10 a.m. the next day, asking if he had made it to a scheduled early-morning engagement. She wrote: 'I recall finding it hilarious that he was undertaking formal engagements following an almost entirely sleepless night.'

Context of the Revelation

The disclosure came after Harry lost his court case against the publishers of the Daily Mail, whom he had accused of unlawful information gathering. Griffiths noted that the messages from that time are now lost due to changing phones, but she remembered the prince mentioning Trooping the Colour, a major royal event, as one of the engagements he had to attend that morning.

Harry's Royal Duties

Up until his departure from royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry carried out numerous official engagements, including hospital visits, community meetings, charity work, and high-profile events like Trooping the Colour. Despite appearing delighted and animated at such events, the revelation suggests he sometimes operated on minimal sleep.
