King's Nephew Peter Phillips to Marry NHS Nurse in Cotswolds Ceremony
Peter Phillips to Marry NHS Nurse in Cotswolds Wedding

Peter Phillips, the eldest grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is set to marry his fiancée, Harriet Sperling, in a private summer ceremony in the Cotswolds. The wedding is scheduled for Saturday, 6 June, at All Saints Church in the village of Kemble, Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

Royal Family Informed of Nuptials

A spokesman for Mr Phillips confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla, along with the Prince and Princess of Wales, have been informed of the upcoming nuptials. While described as a low-key affair, the event is expected to draw members of the Royal Family to the picturesque village. Both families have received invitations detailing the wedding date.

First Royal Wedding Since 2020

This will be the first royal wedding since July 2020, when Mr Phillips’ cousin Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret Windsor Castle ceremony. The upcoming event marks a significant moment for the Royal Family, blending tradition with a more intimate setting.

Background of Peter Phillips

Mr Phillips, 48, is the son of the Princess Royal and her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips. He is also the King’s nephew, a cousin to William and Harry, and the brother of Zara Tindall. He lives on his mother’s Gatcombe Park estate in Minchinhampton.

Second Marriage for Phillips

This will be Mr Phillips’ second marriage. He separated from his first wife, Autumn, in 2020 after 12 years of marriage, and the pair divorced in 2021. They share custody of their two daughters, Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14. Their wedding was a grand royal occasion held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in 2008.

Engagement and Public Appearances

His engagement to Ms Sperling, an NHS nurse, was announced last August, following a period of dating. The couple made a notable public appearance in June, when they were guests of Charles and Camilla at Royal Ascot and participated in the traditional carriage procession.

Line of Succession and Historical Context

Mr Phillips is 19th in line to the throne, after his mother and before his oldest daughter. He made history when he was born in 1977, as his parents refused to give him an official title – despite him being fifth in line at the time. This was done in a bid to give Peter, and later his younger sister Zara Phillips, a chance at a relatively normal life. It also made him the first Royal grandchild in over 500 years to grow up without a title.

Professional Life and Net Worth

Phillips, who does not receive money from the sovereign grant, is currently the managing director of a boutique sports management company, SEL UK. In 2022, his net worth was reported to be around £15.7 million, reflecting his successful career outside of royal duties.
