UK Heatwave: 5 Holiday Spots Hotter Than Britain This Weekend

Britain is bracing for a sweltering bank holiday weekend, with temperatures forecast to climb to 30C, potentially marking the hottest day of the year to date.

Record-Breaking Temperatures Expected

Met Office forecaster Tom Morgan highlighted a 40 per cent chance that parts of southern England could experience temperatures reaching 33C on Sunday. Such a rise would surpass the existing May record of 32.8C, established in 1922.

London, meanwhile, is preparing for its own potential warmest day of the year, with forecasts predicting 28C by Friday. Across the weekend, temperatures across the UK are anticipated to outstrip those in popular holiday destinations such as Ibiza, Hawaii, Zante, Malaga and Crete.

Heatwave Conditions Across the UK

Wales could also meet official heatwave criteria by Sunday, while Scotland and Northern Ireland are forecast to see temperatures climb into the mid-20s next week. The Met Office advises the public to stay hydrated and seek shade during peak hours.

This unexpected heatwave comes as a surprise for many, with the UK often known for its cooler and wetter bank holidays. However, forecasters warn that the heat may be short-lived, with cooler conditions returning by mid-week.
