A new survey has found that more than half of British adults have never visited Buckingham Palace. The data, released by taxi and private hire company Veezu, highlights which iconic UK attractions Britons have missed. The findings coincide with the launch of the Great British Summer Savings Scheme, which runs from June 25 to September 1, offering reduced VAT on meals and days out.
Survey Highlights Unvisited Landmarks
According to the survey, only 41% of British adults have visited Buckingham Palace. Similarly, 49% have never been to the Tower of London, while 44% have missed Alton Towers. Just one-third of adults have visited Stonehenge, 31% have never seen Windsor Castle, and 28% have not visited LEGOLAND.
Other attractions on the list include London Zoo (37% never visited), the London Eye (41%), Edinburgh Castle (33%), Blackpool Tower (44%), and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament (41%).
Government Savings Scheme Launches
The Great British Summer Savings Scheme reduces VAT from 20% to 5% on children's and family tickets for attractions, including cinemas, theatres, concerts, amusement parks, museums, zoos, and more. Businesses already signed up include Butlin's, Burger King, Wetherspoons, and Picturehouse Cinemas. The government will soon launch an online tool to help families find local offers.
Veezu spokesperson Sally Krouma said: “Looking at the data, many Brits admit there are so many of the UK’s attractions they have yet to visit. As the Great British Summer Savings Scheme launches it could be the perfect time for families to check out what’s on their doorstep or further afield.” She added that reliable transport can make a difference in exploring the UK.
