Mike Tyson is still grieving the tragic death of his four-year-old daughter Exodus, who died in 2009 following a treadmill accident at the family's Phoenix home. In his new Netflix documentary, Tyson, the former heavyweight champion admits he is still struggling to process the loss.
The four-part series, which features a cameo from Donald Trump, explores the life of one of the fiercest figures in the sporting world, covering his extraordinary success, controversies, and personal loss. The documentary touches on a subject Tyson still finds challenging to discuss: the death of Exodus, who became entangled in a cord hanging beneath the treadmill's console. She was discovered by her seven-year-old brother, Miguel Leon, rushed to hospital, and placed on life support, but died the following day.
Miguel later said: "It was one of the first memories I actually have." Mike, who was in Las Vegas when the accident happened, was asked in the documentary how he could go on. "I don't know. Still working on that," he admitted.
Who Are Mike Tyson's Seven Children?
The undefeated heavyweight champion has been married three times and is father to seven children, several of whom feature in the documentary. His wives were Robin Givens (1988–1989), Monica Turner (1997–2003), and current wife Lakiha Spicer, whom he married in 2009.
Miki Tyson, born in July 1990 to Mike and ex-girlfriend Kimberly Scarborough, said in the documentary it was nice to see her dad become more involved in family life: "He accepts himself more as a normal person in a family, but I don't think he'll ever really have closure." Ramsey Tyson, born in February 1996 to Mike and Dr Monica Turner, is a filmmaker who has spoken about their transmasculine and nonbinary identity.
Following in His Footsteps
Amir Tyson, born in August 1997 to Mike and Monica Turner, played baseball at university, launched his fashion brand Debonair Attire, and now works in sports. In 2026, he signed with Misfits Boxing and is based in Florida. Miguel Tyson, born in April 2002 to Mike and Sol Xochitl, grew up in Phoenix and became a travel photographer. He works alongside his dad as director of the Tyson Foundation, which supports "underserved communities."
In the documentary, Miguel opens up about his relationship with his father: "I think he's just so broken from his past that he is probably beyond fixing. But I know inside there, there's a broken guy just trying to be a good father."
Youngest Children and the Legacy
Exodus was born in 2005 to Mike and Sol; her death is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the documentary. Mike previously told Reuters he has "become a member of an exclusive club no one wants to join," adding: "I have been told the pain never stops, but you get over it." Milan, born in December 2008 to Mike and Lakiha, is an avid tennis player who has shared the court with Serena Williams' former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. The youngest, Morocco, was born in January 2011 to Mike and Lakiha, and he too plays tennis and has developed an interest in boxing.
