Meghan Markle's UK comeback mission exposed - 'make no mistake, that is the goal'
Meghan Markle's UK comeback mission exposed

A royal insider has disclosed the nature of Meghan Markle's comeback mission in the UK. The Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK alongside Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, at the end of August. While Harry has made several public appearances, Meghan has kept a quieter life in the Cotswolds, but a source close to the family believes she is waiting for the right moment to step into the spotlight.

Waiting for the Right Moment

It was previously reported that Meghan is believed to be staying out of sight to attract more attention when she does eventually appear in public more. The same source also claimed that the Duchess believes she can eventually generate the same level of public excitement and affection as Princess Catherine.

As reported by Closer Online, the insider claimed: "Harry understands why she wants to wait, but he’s convinced she’s worrying for nothing, that once she gets out there she’ll get a fantastic reception and could easily generate the same kind of excitement Kate does."

A Goal to Match Kate

The insider added: "And make no mistake, that is the goal. Meghan knows she and Kate are always going to be compared, and she wants to prove she can make just as much of an impact, if not more. The first time around, she wasn’t prepared for the constant comparisons, but this time she knows what to expect, she’s ready."

According to the insider, Meghan is waiting for the perfect moment to officially reintroduce herself to the British public. She believes she can use her non-royal status and flexibility with engagements to her advantage.

Advantage of Non-Royal Status

They said: "She’s very aware that Kate has the advantage, but she’s still convinced she can give her a run for her money. The fact that she’s not working within the Palace system this time around means she gets to do things entirely on her own terms, so she can decide where she goes, who she works with and which causes she wants to support, and she says that’s going to allow people to see a very different side of her."

Meghan reportedly "loves proving people wrong" and believes a lot of the negativity surrounding her will eventually die down. This is something that Harry is actively supporting.

The source added: "Harry is cheering her on every step of the way in this; he’s so proud of her strength and determination, and he would love nothing more than to see the British public embrace her the way they have Kate."

Different Approaches Since Return

Since their return to the UK after six years living in California, Harry has stepped into the spotlight at notable appearances, including the Invictus Spirit Awards and The WellChild Awards. However, Meghan has taken a different approach and has only been spotted publicly on a couple of occasions.

The Duchess made her first casual public appearance at The Falkland Arms pub in the Cotswolds. She was pictured holding hands with Harry as the couple stepped out for lunch on October 1. She then made her first appearance in London on Wednesday (October 7), pictured having afternoon tea with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai in the Foyer & Reading Room at luxury Mayfair hotel Claridge's.
