Police have made a second arrest after a pregnant woman was found dead in a burning van in Prestatyn. Samantha Phythian was found dead earlier this month after emergency services were called to reports of a van fire on Gas Works Lane in Prestatyn, Denbighshire.
Second arrest in murder investigation
On Friday evening, police said a 47-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson and possession with intent to supply drugs. Samantha's family have been made aware of developments, North Wales Police said.
Thomas Matthew Hammond Bell, 38, of Wellington Road, Rhyl, appeared in Mold Crown Court today charged with her murder.
Postmortem reveals pregnancy
Known as Sammi to her family, police said a postmortem examination had revealed that she was pregnant when she died.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Zoie Dunkerley said: "Our investigations into this incident are moving at pace, and we are currently exploring every avenue of information open to us."
