Meghan Markle's Inner Circle 'Worried' About UK Return

Meghan Markle's closest friends and family are reportedly deeply concerned about how she will fare in the UK, according to a source close to her. The concerns come as the Duchess of Sussex prepares to return to live in The Cotswolds, with her children enrolled to start school in the UK in September.

Fears Over Media Attention

A source told People Magazine: "My biggest concern is the level of media attention she’ll face in the UK. I’m worried for her." The source added: "She has been vocal about how she felt before, but that doesn’t mean things are going to be exactly the same again."

Meghan previously opened up about her mental health struggles while part of the Royal Family, revealing she had suicidal thoughts. The couple eventually left the Firm and moved to the US, settling in California.

A Stronger Support Network

Another source said that Meghan's network is "stronger now than it ever was to protect her—to protect them."

In her 2021 interview with Oprah, Meghan spoke candidly about her mental health at the time. "Look, I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially because I know how much loss he has suffered, but I knew that if I didn't say it, then I would do it," she said. "I just didn't want to be alive anymore."

Past Struggles and Future Plans

She said she went to the Firm to ask for help at the time, but was told it wasn't available. "I went to one of the most senior people just to get help. And that, you know, I share this because there are so many people who are afraid to voice that they need help," she said. "I remember this conversation like it was yesterday, because they said… ‘I see how bad it is, but there’s nothing we can do to protect you because you’re not a paid employee of the institution.’"

It has been reported that Meghan will continue to work on her As Ever brand while back in the UK, and that she is considering a return to acting, having risen to fame as Rachel in Suits. She was recently in talks to star in season 3 of Netflix's The Gentlemen.
