Meghan Markle has reportedly turned down a role from Prince Harry following their return to the UK in August. A source has revealed that the Duchess of Sussex has her own priorities moving forward and does not wish to follow her husband around "like some Stepford wife."
Separate routines since UK return
The couple have moved into a private, non-royal home in the Cotswolds after coming back to Britain, with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, now enrolled in a local school. The Sussexes have adopted separate routines and public demeanours since their return.
Harry has thrown himself into solo engagements while Meghan has stepped back from networking events, with insiders claiming she has "no intention of following him around" as proposed. She is instead focusing on her own business interests and managing the household.
Source reveals Meghan's focus
As reported by Closer, the source said: "She's focused on the kids and her brand, and truth be told, she's not interested in following him around like some Stepford wife."
Harry is reportedly on board with that plan. However, the source added that "it does mean a whole lot more pressure on his shoulders and absolutely zero time to himself because the moment he's free from work he's got to rush home to give Meghan a break from parenting duties."
Harry's mission to prove the move right
The prince is also thought to have made it his personal mission to prove that his family's return to the UK was the right decision. He has found himself juggling responsibilities, including family, charity work, business opportunities and international trips.
The source continued: "Getting them all to England was just the first battle, now he has to prove that it was the right decision which means a whole lot of hard work."
Harry is reportedly "adamant" about making the move work, with the source adding: "He's running from one gig to the next and at the same time he's working all his contacts to find other opportunities, and not just for himself, he wants to open doors for Meghan too, he promised her he would."
Meghan's determination to win over UK
Meanwhile, Meghan is reportedly refusing to accept the prediction that Brits will never welcome her in the UK. Although she has not made any official public engagements yet in Britain, it is believed she is planning to begin in the near future.
A source said: "Meghan is very competitive, she loves taking on a challenge, and she's coming back to the UK with the mindset that she can turn things around and win people over.
"She's heard all the predictions that she'll never be welcomed in England again, but she's refusing to just roll over and accept that as the truth. There was a time when all the hostility she's facing across the pond would have taken her down, but she's stronger than she was six years ago, and she's insisting that she's ready to stand up and fight back."
