Meghan Markle Has 'No Option' But to Continue UK Life, Royal Editor Says
Meghan Markle Has 'No Option' But to Continue UK Life

Meghan Markle has no choice but to continue building her new life in the UK, despite recent allegations about her father putting her back in the headlines, according to royal editor Emily Nash.

Thomas Markle Sr. has been accused of child sex abuse, allegations he has denied. The Sun reported that Thomas's son, Thomas Jr., claimed he had discovered boxes of child sex images at their home in the Philippines and went to the police. Meghan's half-sister, Samantha Markle, accused her brother of fabricating the claims in a story in the Daily Mail.

Thomas Markle Sr., who is being cared for in a home in Florida, has denied possessing child sex images, calling the accusations "sick lies."

No Other Choice

Speaking on HELLO!'s A Right Royal Podcast, Nash said the Duchess "doesn't have any option other than to carry on."

Nash said: "She has kept a relatively low profile for long periods over the last couple of years, but that doesn't make sense at the moment, where she is trying to relaunch herself, where she's running this business, and she's also trying to get back into acting."

She added: "So it's a really, really awful situation for her to be dealing with, but I think as we said earlier, having the distraction of work, the children, and her various projects is probably a good thing."

Life in the UK

Meghan and Harry quit their royal roles in 2020, two years after Meghan officially joined The Firm when she married Harry in 2018. The couple spent six years living in the US before relocating to Britain at the end of August. They are now living in the Cotswolds, it is understood. Their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have joined them on the move and have started at British schools.

The Sussexes are not working royals, but in October they made their first official appearance since their return. The day, in Nottingham, mimicked a traditional royal engagement. The couple met with charities and spoke to local communities; they were greeted by fans who lined the street to welcome them.

The Duchess runs her brand, As Ever, and continues to carry out charity work.
