The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has found herself at the centre of an unfounded fashion controversy after eagle-eyed observers noticed she wore the same designer dress in two separate appearances three years apart.
Her spokesperson has now issued an angry and defiant statement denying completely false claims that the former actress improperly took the garment from a magazine shoot.

The story begins in 2022, when Meghan wore a beautiful forest green one-shoulder gown by designer Galvan, valued at approximately £1,300, for a photoshoot with the publication Variety.
Fast forward to late 2025, and the same distinctive dress has reappeared in the promotional material for the holiday special of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. In the new footage, the Duchess is seen wearing the gown while lighting candles at a dinner table, setting a festive scene for the upcoming show.
This sartorial recurrence sparked an unsubstantiated rumour within certain circles, alleging that Meghan had taken the designer piece home from the 2022 Variety shoot without obtaining the necessary permission.
A Firm and Categorical Denial
Responding to these claims, a spokesperson for the Duchess delivered a powerful rebuttal, leaving no room for ambiguity. The statement read: "The insinuation that any items were taken without the full knowledge and agreement of the on-set stylists or their respective teams is not only categorically false but also highly defamatory."
The spokesperson emphasised that any items kept were done so in total transparency and were fully in line with pre-arranged contractual agreements governing the photoshoot.
Adding further context, a source speaking to the Express clarified that it is actually "commonplace and prudent" for items from high-profile photoshoots to be retained by the participants or their teams. This standard practice helps prevent third parties from later auctioning off the garments for exorbitant sums of money.

This fashion-focused dispute emerges just as Meghan continues her work in the public eye. She recently gave a revealing interview to Harper's Bazaar, where she spoke fondly of her relationship with Prince Harry.
