Fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were left disappointed after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle failed to notice them during their visit to Nottingham on Thursday. The couple, who returned to the UK in August, made their first joint appearance since their return, with three separate engagements in the city.
The Duke and Duchess were seen chatting with fans waiting outside the venues they visited as part of their busy day. However, some fans were left disappointed as they never got to meet the couple.
Fan describes crowd's frustration
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express, resident Johannes Sharland, 67, described the crowd's frustration after spending hours waiting in the hope of catching a moment with the Sussexes.
She said: "Myself, plus the rest of the crowd, were very disappointed that after their lunch they did not come out to speak to some of us, a wave, they missed the bouquets of flowers."
"I was waiting for quite a long time from 12pm, but I was happy to see them when they did arrive," she added. "I expected them to come back out again, but they [just left]. I'd never seen them before."
Missed opportunity for fans
The couple's visit to Nottingham included engagements where they were seen interacting with fans waiting outside the venues. Despite the excitement of seeing the couple, some fans expressed disappointment at not having the chance to meet them personally.
