Meghan and Harry Christmas with royals 'nil', says expert

There is no chance that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children will spend Christmas with the Royal Family, an expert has said. With the Sussexes' return to the UK, many are speculating about where they will decide to spend the winter festivities.

They are reportedly torn between spending the holidays in the United Kingdom with the Windsors or the Spencers, or with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, in California. One source said that "with the kids in school, they can't keep bouncing between California and the UK whenever they feel like it, so they've got some difficult decisions coming up because they are not on the same page."

Expert's Verdict on Royal Invitation

However, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the chances for the couple to be invited to spend Christmas with the Royal Family are "nil". He told the Express: "Reports indicate that the Sussexes plan to spend Christmas in Montecito this year. Meghan's mother Doria lives there and Meghan has just released an Advent Calendar inspired by their Montecito home and garden. So this makes sense."

"This, of course, is just speculation. However, the chances of them being invited to spend Christmas with the royal family this year are nil. The rift with William makes that certain. That does not mean they will be excluded from the Christmas lunch for the extended royal family which is held annually. We don't know if they will be invited to that."

Conflicting Holiday Plans

Reports suggest that Meghan may be homesick, with the insider suggesting she would like to spend Christmas in the USA. Meanwhile, Prince Harry reportedly fears that heading away from the UK for Christmas may send the wrong message, reports News 24.

A source reportedly said: "Harry hates the idea of leaving England over Christmas, it's one of his favourite times of year and he worries that if they travel back to the US, it will look like they're giving up and choosing to miss out on time with his father."

It is understood that the King welcomes the opportunity to see more of his family. In July, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Sussexes, along with their children, at Highgrove House.
