King Charles reportedly has one wish for Prince Harry's UK return, according to reports. The monarch has not publicly commented on the fact that his youngest son has arrived in Britain, but reports suggest he is pleased Harry will be in closer proximity to the family.
This is the first time Harry has lived in the UK since 2020, and relations between the duke and the monarch have been frayed since then. It is believed that since their last meeting in July at Highgrove, the relationship has substantially improved.
King's Hope for His Sons
However, while the King's relationship with Harry seems to be on a more stable footing, the same cannot be said for Harry and his estranged brother, Prince William. This is something that seems to bother King Charles, who reportedly urged his sons a few years ago to try and get along once more.
This was revealed by Harry, who wrote in his memoir Spare that after Prince Philip's funeral in 2021, Charles asked both his sons not to make his final years “a misery.” While Harry and William are still estranged, it is believed that the King still has the wish that Harry's UK return could bring the brothers back together again, and that he will see their relationship on solid ground once more.
Source Reveals King's Wish
A source close to The Royal Household told People magazine: “The King would love to have Harry around.” The same source then revealed the King's wish. They said: “He (King Charles) will want to see his sons together over time. This is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years.”
It is believed that Harry, 41, and William, 45, have not been on talking terms for some time. While Harry's memoir may have been the final straw for William, it is believed tensions existed between the brothers for some time.
Tensions and Current Status
This was partly because of Harry and Meghan's vocal criticisms about the Royal Family after quitting royal life in 2020, and also because of tensions that existed when the couple were still working royals. It is believed that William currently has no plans to reconcile with his younger brother.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children arrived at Birmingham Airport earlier today.
