King Charles may have just pulled off a “masterclass” move that has shown Prince Harry he’s been wrong all along – at least according to Royals Uncensored star Katie Nicholl. She appeared on Piers Morgan’s spin-off YouTube show on July 16 to discuss Charles’ meeting with Harry and Meghan, which took place behind closed doors last week.
Secret meeting orchestrated by the King
Nicholl said on the programme: “What I found so interesting was that it was ultimately the King who managed to pull off this eleventh hour meeting, cloak and dagger. I was told that no-one knew about it apart from the King, Meghan and Harry. There was a call made from Highgrove, because Camilla and the King spend their weekends often separately, which is not as strange as it sounds.
“The King called the Queen and said, ‘This meeting is going to happen, they’re on their way’. She jumped in a car, didn’t tell anyone. Her children didn’t know – no-one knew at all.
Privacy without security: a litmus test
“It was very much, I was told, the King’s way of showing this can be done without the need for taxpayer-funded security. This can be done without anybody needing to find out about it. But the caveat was, this is a litmus test for trust. No pictures to be released. Nothing to be leaked out. And as yet, we’re nearly a week on, nothing has come out. Leave your camera at the door.”
Panellist Samara Gill chimed in: “It was really interesting that it was able to be kept private, and that’s the thing that Harry and Meghan have been harking on about since they Megxited all those years ago – we want privacy. Clearly that was able to happen, on private grounds, not royal ones. It was actually kind of a testament to the fact that it can be done, they can recoup that relationship privately without media scrutiny. But it just depends who might break that, eventually, who might break that trust.”
Public reaction: masterclass or delusion?
Viewers hailed the move a “masterclass” from Charles, with one tweeting in response: “A masterclass from Charles, very subtle way of rubbing his son's face in it.” Another echoed: “YES it can be done secretly and without security… but that is NOT what Meghan wants. She wants the bells, whistles, lights, glitter, shine, gold paved roads with police escorts and crowds bowing to her… and the press to be reporting every moment. Delusional.”
However, somebody else argued: “It's not about visits to Royals or buildings already secured, it's about free movement for Harry and his family between locations.” While another posted: “Nothing’s come out but you know about how Camilla got there!”
