King Charles Celebrates 77th Birthday with Visit to South Wales

King Charles marked his 77th birthday on Thursday with a visit to South Wales, accompanied by Queen Camilla. The couple spent the day engaging with local communities and celebrating the milestone away from London.

To mark the occasion, the Royal Family released a new official portrait of the King, taken by photographer Millie Pilkington at the Sandringham Estate. Gun salutes were also held across the country, including a 41-gun salute in London and a 21-gun salute at Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.

Prince William sent a motivational video message to BBC Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox, who was completing a 135-mile charity run for BBC Children In Need. The Prince and Princess of Wales also shared a birthday message for the King on their Instagram account, resharing the new portrait.
