King Charles Funds Prince Harry and Meghan's UK Return: Everything You Need to Know
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning a five-day trip to the UK next month, and they will be bringing their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. This marks the first time the children have visited the UK in four years, since the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The visit is reportedly happening because King Charles stepped in to help facilitate it. The monarch has offered his own private resources and funds to help cover the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's security arrangements during their stay.
Prince Harry has been in a longstanding dispute over his security since he stepped back as a working royal in 2020. In May, he recently lost a legal challenge to have his taxpayer-funded police protection automatically reinstated. Following that ruling, Harry had publicly stated he felt it was unsafe to bring his family to the UK.
Neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes' team have officially confirmed the details. The UK government also declined to comment on specifics, stating only that its protective security systems are "rigorous and proportionate."
Despite the King’s intervention to make the trip happen and Harry's reported desire to make amends with his family, the article notes that it is still not clear whether Harry and his family will actually meet face-to-face with King Charles during their visit.
