Kate and William Update Profile Picture After Two Years

The Prince and Princess of Wales have quietly updated their Instagram profile picture for the first time since 2024. The new image, which replaces a photo symbolising the end of Princess Catherine's chemotherapy, appears to have been taken during their recent visit to Scotland.

A Subtle Change to Their Social Media

The couple's social media platforms, including Instagram and X, are typically very active, with their profile pictures featuring professional photos of the two of them. The previous picture, which had been in place since August 2024, was a still image from a video filmed by Will Warr in Norfolk. That image was chosen just a few months after Catherine revealed her cancer diagnosis and signified that she had finished chemotherapy.

The new Instagram profile picture shows the couple smiling intently at the camera and was likely taken last month during their visit to the Isle of Bute in Scotland. During that visit, they went to Bute Shinty Club and Ettrick Bay, as well as other community projects.

Details of the New Photo

Catherine, 44, can be seen wearing a brown trench coat over an olive-green jumper, while William, also 44, wears earthy green and brown tones. The couple do not frequently update their profile photos, though they sometimes switch out their cover picture on X to share news about their work, such as the Prince of Wales' Earthshot Prize.

The profile picture on X, which shows them at the State Banquet at Windsor Castle during President Donald Trump's State visit last September, has not changed recently. The couple typically change their social media pictures in November for Remembrance Day, but usually revert to their previous photos after about a week.

Previous Profile Pictures

The couple previously kept a picture of themselves laughing during a trip to Ireland in 2020. Like William and Catherine, King Charles and Queen Camilla have also swapped their chosen profile picture. The King and Queen currently have a picture from the 2023 coronation on their profiles, which has been there since last year.

The Prince and Princess of Wales's current X header picture shows them with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. That picture is also a still from their video filmed by Will Warr in Norfolk in 2024. The couple recently attended an engagement at AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds, joined by Jamie Jones Buchanan, the CEO of the Leeds Rhinos, at the home of the rugby league team.
