Prince Harry marked what would have been Queen Elizabeth II's 100th birthday with a private gesture from his home in Montecito, California, rather than joining senior royals in London. According to reports, he arranged for flowers to be placed at St George's Chapel in Windsor, where the late monarch is buried.
The Queen rests in the King George VI Memorial Chapel alongside her parents, husband Prince Philip, and sister Princess Margaret. Harry has previously visited the chapel quietly, including on the first anniversary of her death in 2023 and again in 2025 for the third anniversary.
In his memoir Spare, Harry described their last phone call days before her death, a warm conversation covering health and current events. He learned of her passing mid-flight to Balmoral, writing: 'I spent much of the flight staring at the clouds, replaying the last time I’d spoken with Granny.'
Harry and Meghan named their daughter Lilibet Diana after the Queen's childhood nickname in June 2021. During the Platinum Jubilee, the Queen met her great-grandchildren, with Harry recalling Archie's 'deep, chivalrous bows' and baby Lili 'cuddling the monarch’s shins.'
