In a rare public family appearance, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, were joined by their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a volunteering session in Los Angeles.
A Family Affair at Our Big Kitchen
The Sussex family visited Our Big Kitchen in Los Angeles (OBKLA), a community-run non-profit that prepares meals for those facing food insecurity across the city. The outing took place ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday on November 27.
A video montage shared by Meghan Markle on Instagram showed the family actively participating in the kitchen's work. Six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet were seen helping to prepare food alongside other children, appearing to enjoy the experience.
Hands-On Volunteering for a Cause
The footage captured Harry and Meghan baking cookies, slicing vegetables, and packing meals for delivery. In one particularly touching moment, Meghan is seen smiling while holding her daughter Lilibet's hand, watching as Prince Harry fills a container with mince, rice, and peppers.
The Duchess accompanied the post with the caption "Show up. Do Good", which serves as the motto for their Archewell Foundation. Founded in 2020 after they stepped back as senior working royals, the foundation supports OBKLA and other non-profit organisations.
Compassion in Action for the Community
According to a message on the Archewell Foundation website, the meals prepared during their session were destined for Los Angeles Mercy Housing, Pico Union Project, and PATH. These organisations support local schools, shelters, and senior centres.
OBKLA provides more than 70,000 nourishing meals each year, fostering a sense of care and connection within the community. The Archewell Foundation reiterated its commitment to "putting compassion into action" and serving communities both locally and globally.
The family, who reside in a $30 million mansion in Montecito, California, made this joint appearance as they prepare for the holiday season. It remains unclear when Prince Harry will next visit the UK, with sources suggesting it is highly unlikely he will join the Royal Family for Christmas. His most recent visit was in September, when he met with his father, King Charles, for approximately 55 minutes at Clarence House.
