Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to return to the US next month for the holiday season, with Meghan reportedly "looking forward" to leaving the UK. The Sussexes moved to England in August, and after the Sunday Times reported that the pair "know they're not going to be invited" to celebrate Christmas with the Royal Family, they have started making plans to head to California.
Meghan misses home and her mother
Meghan is said to be "looking forward" to heading to California next month, as Thanksgiving approaches on November 26. A source told People: "She does miss home - and her mum."
"They're planning to come back for the holidays. Meghan's looking forward to seeing her friends and making plans with them already," the source added. Meghan has a close relationship with her mother, Doria Ragland, who lives in the Los Angeles area.
Holiday plans with Doria Ragland
A friend of the Sussexes told the Sunday Times that Meghan's mother would take control of the holiday plans. The source said: "For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do."
"They would love her to come over to the U.K. and spend it with them here, but they will be wherever she wants to be," the source added. Hence, it is believed that the family, including Archie and Lilibet, will be travelling to the US ahead of Thanksgiving on November 26.
No Christmas with the Royal Family
After there was suggestion the family may spend Christmas at Sandringham with the King and family, the idea was quickly shut down by a friend. The source said: "They won't be having Christmas with the Royal Family."
"How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation," the source added. Harry and Meghan last celebrated Christmas at Sandringham in 2018, before stepping back from their roles as senior working royals in 2020.
