Harry and Meghan Reunion with Charles at Highgrove Reason Revealed
Harry and Meghan Reunion with Charles at Highgrove Reason

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reunion with King Charles took place at Highgrove because it allowed the Sussexes to enter undetected, a royal commentator has revealed. Richard Eden suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, were able to slip through the gates unnoticed due to a Chanel event being held at the King's private residence on the same day.

Speaking on the Daily Mail podcast Palace Confidential, Eden explained that the flow of vehicles and visitors at the Gloucestershire estate made it easier for the Sussexes to bypass waiting paparazzi. He said: "It was quite cleverly timed in that way."

Strategic Timing and Childhood Memories

Buckingham Palace confirmed at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday, July 10, that the King and Queen Camilla hosted the Sussexes at Highgrove, located west of London. The announcement ended weeks of speculation about whether Meghan and the children would join Harry on his UK trip.

Daily Mail Senior Editor-at-Large Richard Kay highlighted the significance of Highgrove as Prince Harry's childhood home. "Harry's childhood home: the playground, the tree house, the swimming pool. All the things that he remembers from his childhood, he'll want to show his children," Kay said. He added that the venue helped avoid awkward silences during the meeting, noting: "It was a great diversion. I know there was also a lavish tea. It helps eat up the minutes. It wasn't a very long meeting, but when you've got all that going on... I imagine [it] would have helped smooth the time."

Details of the Visit Remain Scarce

Eden told Palace Confidential that little is known about the reunion beyond Queen Camilla's presence, which he described as "unusual because she does usually spend weekends at her own retreat." He noted Highgrove's attractions, including "spectacular" gardens and a "wonderful" treehouse built for William and Harry during their childhood. Eden speculated that Archie and Lilibet likely enjoyed exploring the estate.

However, he cautioned that the "big test" would be whether details emerge from the Sussex side. For Harry and Meghan to forge deeper ties with the King, Eden said the monarch would need assurance that private moments will not immediately appear on Netflix or in US magazines. This follows a series of allegations made by Harry and Meghan in their Oprah Winfrey interview, Netflix series, and Harry's memoir Spare.
