Harry and Meghan confirm US Christmas, skipping Royals

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly confirmed that they will spend Christmas in the USA this year, according to The Times. The couple, who moved back to the UK at the end of August, had been weighing where to celebrate the holiday, but a friend told The Times they will be with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, who lives in California.

Decision on Christmas plans

The friend said: “For Thanksgiving and Christmas, they will do whatever Doria wants to do. They would love her to come over to the UK and spend it with them here, but they will be wherever she wants to be.”

“They won't be having Christmas with the Royal Family. How could that even work? They know it would be too awkward and too difficult. They also know they're not going to be invited, and they're not waiting for an invitation.”

Life in the UK and ongoing work

The Sussexes left their royal roles in 2020 and moved to the USA, with no plans to return as working royals. Meghan is reportedly working on her As Ever lifestyle business, which sells home items including food, wine, and candles, and is planning to collaborate with charities and patronages from her time as a working royal.

Prince Harry has attended several engagements since returning to Britain and is focused on the Invictus Games, to be held in Birmingham in July 2027. He continues to work with his UK-based charities.

Family relations

The King reportedly welcomes the opportunity to see his family more. He and Queen Camilla hosted Meghan, Harry, Archie, and Lilibet at Highgrove House in July. However, Prince William has not met with his brother, and it is understood the brothers have no contact.

According to The Times, the Sussexes are planning their first joint outing on Thursday in Nottingham. The couple have returned to the UK for what is being called an “extended” period of time.
