Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced heavy criticism on TalkTV after it was announced the couple are looking to have their taxpayer-funded security reinstated. The Sussexes will be returning to the UK for an "extended period", with Prince Harry, 41, reportedly pleading with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to restore security for himself and his family.
Royal commentator slams 'outrageous' demand
Reacting to the update, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield ripped into the couple for the "outrageous" demand and claimed they are "using" the British public. She said: "I think it's outrageous that you would be asked to do so when Harry and Meghan won't commit to the United Kingdom. Even if they did verbally commit to the United Kingdom, their words have no weight."
Kinsey referred back to Harry's interview with The New York Times, in which he claimed he was staying in the United States because there were certain things he could do with his children there that he could not do in Britain.
'Schizophrenic' about where they live
Issuing a scathing critique of the Sussexes, Kinsey continued: "They're schizophrenic in my opinion. They're schizophrenic about where they're going to live. They tell us that Meghan's giving up her life to move to the United Kingdom, giving up her career to move to the UK.
"And then they tell us that they're moving to Canada. Then they'd say from Canada they're moving to the United States."
Kinsey claimed Harry and Meghan are "leaking" information to their friends in the media "like a faucet", adding: "Why should you be expected to pay for their security when it's a temporary stop in my opinion?
"I could understand if they were making it their home, but if they're not going to make it their home and they're briefly using you as another tarmac for the Harry and Megan experience, the worldwide privacy tour, then you shouldn't be responsible for that. It's unfair."
TalkTV presenter: 'Don't you dare charge us'
TalkTV presenter Kevin O'Sullivan echoed the sentiment, delivering his own blistering assessment of the couple.
He said: "I totally agree with you. That's what we, the British people, feel. Yes, they need security, but don't you dare charge us for it. Why should it be our bill?
"This pair do nothing for the royals, they do not do anything for this country and as such, we should not have to pay for them. They're not working royals, they're private citizens."
He argued that if celebrities such as Brad Pitt or Nicole Kidman came to the UK, they wouldn't ask British taxpayers to fund their security.
"Of course, they wouldn't. It doesn't make logical sense. Nor does it make logical sense for us to pay Harry and Meghan, the gruesome twosome's security bill. Absolutely outrageous suggestion," the host added.
