Alisa Anderson, who served as Queen Elizabeth II's press secretary from 2001 to 2013, has stated that Prince Harry is now 'almost unrecognisable' from the approachable and warm figure she remembers from the early 2010s. Speaking on the Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered podcast, Anderson reflected on Harry's recent transatlantic visit to the UK, which she described as a 'shambles' that damaged his family's reputation.
Anderson's Criticism of Harry's UK Trip
Anderson expressed relief at no longer working for the royal household, saying, 'I count my lucky stars that I'm not working in the royal household today. They just don't know where the next missile is going to come from.' She characterised the current atmosphere as 'chaotic' and 'like a drama,' something she said would never have been expected from the British monarchy.
She criticised Harry's handling of his family's return, including multiple press briefings over accommodation disputes and his long-running battle for taxpayer-funded security. 'It turned into a shambles, for the reputation of his wife, even the children as a knock-on effect,' Anderson said. 'That's all people are going to talk about. And it takes away from the real reason he came to the UK, for the Invictus Games.'
Reunion with King Charles
Despite the controversy, Harry reunited his children, Archie (7) and Lilibet (5), with King Charles on July 10 at Highgrove, marking their first meeting in four years. The reunion was seen as a sign of thawing relations, though Prince William was notably absent, highlighting the ongoing rift between the brothers.
Harry's estrangement from his royal relatives deepened after he stepped down as a senior royal in 2020, followed by critical comments in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, and autobiography Spare.
