Princess Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands proudly showed off her scar this week from an injury she sustained following an accident with a horse last year. The future queen of the Netherlands attended a gala for the opening of the 2026 FEI World Championships in Germany on Tuesday evening.
First Public Appearance Since Injury
She was joined by other European royals, including Queen Mary of Denmark and Britain's Zara Tindall. Catharina-Amalia wore a sleeveless cream dress with green stripes and paired it with green accessories. A large scar was visible on her left arm.
The Dutch royal was hospitalised last year after she broke her arm during a horse accident. She underwent a successful surgery on her arm, which was the first serious horse-riding incident she had ever had.
Royal Background and Interests
Catharina-Amalia, born on December 7, 2003, is the eldest of three daughters to King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. The Dutch royal household states on its website that the royal's pastimes are horse riding, tennis and singing.
On her 18th birthday, the Princess of Orange automatically became a member of the Council of State and its Advisory Division. Catharina-Amalia has a Bachelor of Science degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics and is currently studying Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam.
