Coronation Street actors James Cartwright and Beth Nixon are reportedly in a real-life romance, according to a source who spoke to The Sun.
Cartwright played Theo Silverton, a villain who initially appeared sympathetic as a victim of conversion therapy before becoming one of Weatherfield's most cruel and sadistic characters. He subjected boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) to a campaign of abuse.
Nixon played Megan Walsh, a predatory paedophile who groomed and sexually abused Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), while psychologically torturing Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan).
Red carpet appearances together
The pair recently appeared together on the red carpet for the Cure Usher ball, where they took a photo alongside Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks and her wife, Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick. They were also pictured together at an event for BBC Radio 4 soap The Archers, on which Cartwright plays Police Constable Harrison Burns, celebrating 75 years with the Liverpool Philharmonic.
A source told The Sun: 'They're keeping things low key but they really like each other.'
Theo's fate and Megan's return
Theo's abuse of Todd was eventually discovered, and after a brutal beating that hospitalised Todd, he reported Theo to the police. Theo continued to terrorise Todd, but was found dead on the cobbles. Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) was revealed as his killer.
Megan used Will's love for her to avoid the law initially, but he eventually told the court the truth, and she was sentenced to five years in prison.
Megan will return to Coronation Street, with the ITV soap keen to explore another chapter of Megan and Will's story. A source told The Sun: 'Beth Nixon, who played paedo teacher Megan Walsh, is already back on the ITV set filming this week. Megan might have been sent to jail back in June but her former pupil Will Driscoll will be shocked when she returns. Beth has been filming this week and will be on screen later this year.'
As for Theo, he is dead and not returning.
