Coronation Street fans believe they have uncovered Lily Platt's biological mum in a shocking DNA twist. Viewers of the ITV soap spotted a remarkable likeness between Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) and young Lily (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) as the family gathered at the Bistro this week to celebrate Shona's birthday.
It has been a turbulent few months for the Platt family. Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) was diagnosed with schizophrenia earlier this year after experiencing hallucinations. He recently suffered a relapse when he pushed Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) down the stairs at the Rovers, and was revealed to have spent over £6,000 of his dad Nick's (Ben Price) money on cryptocurrency.
Jodie's scheme and the shooting
Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) has been stirring up trouble at number eight, scheming to push her older sister, Shona (Julia Goulding), out of the picture. She played random baby noises throughout the house to convince Shona she was losing her mind, and framed Shona's stepdaughter Lily this week, prompting Shona to check into the Chariot Square Hotel for the night.
Tensions reached boiling point when David (Jack P. Shepherd) and Shona joined forces to expose Jodie's deep-seated hatred of her sister. Jodie pulled a gun on the pair, moments before she was shot in the stomach following a struggle with Shona.
Fans spot a resemblance
During the latest episode on Friday (October 9), now available to stream on ITVX, David rang for an ambulance and reported that someone had been shot. Paramedics arrived alongside a firearms officer. As Jodie was stretchered out of the house, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) pressed David for answers. He lied, claiming that he and Shona had heard the gunshot from outside.
While audiences await the next developments, some fans believe they've cracked a bombshell DNA storyline. Posting their theory on a Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Is it me or does Lily Platt have a resemblance to a younger Toyah?" Another chimed in: "It may come out that she was the baby that Toyah buried at the Red Rec." A third commented: "I saw the resemblance last night!"
