Coronation Street aired Cassie Plummer's final scenes on Monday, with actress Claire Sweeney leaving the ITV soap. But after a sinister twist with Ross, viewers are left wondering: does Cassie die?
Ross's Threat and Cassie's Exit
In the episode, Cassie's plan to expose Ross backfired. She had tried to drug him, but he discovered it and drugged Tracy instead. No one believed Cassie's claim that Ross added more pills, leaving her rejected by Steve McDonald and son Tyrone Dobbs. She decided to leave Weatherfield.
Ross then harassed Cassie into his car, offering a lift. They parked up, and Ross admitted he had set her up and drugged Tracy. When Cassie threatened to go to the police, Ross turned nasty, screaming and telling her they would go on a little drive. Cassie was not seen again, and Ross returned home acting normally, holding a photo Fiz and the kids had given Cassie.
Claire Sweeney Hints at Fate
Spoilers reveal Fiz and Steve grow suspicious and quiz Ross about Cassie's whereabouts. But actress Claire Sweeney, who quit after three years, hinted at the outcome. She initially said it was left for viewers to decide, but later appeared to confirm Cassie was not killed off, meaning Ross did not kill her. The door has been left open for her return.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
